Delta Marsh History Initiative, Steering Committee Meeting

Present:     Barry Bills, Maurice Blanchard, Shirley Christianson, Gordon Goldsborough (sec), Bob Jones, Glen Suggett

1.  Minutes of the last meeting (31 May) were approved by consensus with the following addition: Melba Brecknell loaned some photographs which Suggett was to scan.

2.  Business

a) Writing progress report – Suggett is going through the Atkinson files obtained during a trip to Weyburn, Saskatchewan. He is looking for significant entries in Dr. Atkinson’s lodge log.

b) Fish Fry – Blanchard will bring coffee, water, and ice cream. Bills will pick up orange drink. Tent setup will take place at 3:00 PM on Thursday. Donors to be thanked in the slide show should include the Manitoba Wildlife Branch. Christianson will email a full list of silent auction donors to Goldsborough. Auction ticket prices were set at 3 for $2, 5 for $3, and 10 for $5.

c) Hutchinson – Gordon and Keith Hutchinson are eager to do interviews. We will contact them when our video camera is fixed. (It was sent back to Canon for repairs because it “ate” tapes, with repairs estimated at $300.) On further discussion, it was decided to use proceeds of the upcoming fish fry to purchase another video camera. An interview date in late July would work for us. Christianson will check with them.

d) Atkinson photos – Goldsborough will find the scans made during our visit to Terry Atkinson in Saskatchewan and make a copy for Suggett.

3.  Next meeting: The next meeting will be held at the home of Shirley Christianson (118 Wilkinson Crescent, Portage la Prairie) at 9:00 am on Monday, 26 September 2005.
