Portage la Prairie Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting

Sitting at the head table Thursday night at the Chamber of Commerce annual meeting in the Elks' hall, were left to right: Group Captaine J. J. Jordan, CO of RCAF Station Macdonald; Hon. C. E. Greenlay, Manitoba's minister of mines and natural resources; C. C. Miller; Canon P. C. Bays; past-president Neil Muir; guest speaker M. J. McMullin; retiring president A. C. Carver; Mayor H. L. Henderson, Reeve Lawrence Smith; Capt. C. P. Smith of the Salvation Army; Tom Casey and Dr. F. G. Garvin.

Better Portage Award: Canon P. C. Bays of Winnipeg, (right) rector of St. Mary's Anglican church here for 23 years, receives the Better Portage Award from C. C. Miller. The presentation was made at the annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce.

Football player honored - Tom (Citation) Casey, honored by the Portage and District Chamber of Commerce Thursday night, receives an engraved pen-and-pencil set from Dr. F. G. Garvin (right). The good citizenship award was presented to Mr. Casey because of his excellent record of citizenship.

Good Citizenship award: George MacVicar, West Prospect farmer who for the last 50 years has assisted the provincial government in ceral crop experiments Thursday nigth was awarded a Good Citizenship award by the Portage and District Chamber of Commerce. C. T. Oliver (left) is shown handing the award - an engraved silver tray - to E. M. MacKey, who accepted it for the 78-year-old farmer.

Guest speaker M. J. G. McMullen and retiring president A. C. Carver of the Portage and District Chamber of Commerce hold a tete-a-tete Thursday night at the Chamber's annual meeting in th Elks' hall. Mr. McMullen is manager for the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce.
