(Schram) April 29th, 1974 CURLING JIM WISHART RECIEVES CITY OF PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE DISTINGUISHED CITIZENS’ RECOGNITION RECIEVES AWARD J. W. “Jim” Wishart, centre, was presented a Distinguished Citizen Award Monday prior to city council meeting, Mr. Wishart last Thursday was elected president of the Manitoba Curling Association, marking the first time that an out-of-Winnipeg resident has headed the MCA in its 88-year history. Alderman Gary Cobbe is making the presentation while Mayor H. L. Henderson looks on. Consensus among council members was that the singular honor conferred on Mr. Wishart was well deserved for his efforts on behalf of curling over a span of more than 35 years, both locally and provincially.
