Tashiro October 9 1969 Girls Fastball GIRLS FASTBALL WINNERS The farmerettes – intermediate girls softball champions, proudly display their crests and the Hargreaves portage Drug Store Ltd. Trophy they earned for being Portage and District Girls’ Softball champions this year. The girls in the picture include Joan Blight, Cathy Denton, Kathy blight, Sharon Lilley, Darlene Lilley, Iowa Wieler, Pat Duchak, Shannon O’Niel, Darlene Heintz, Gail Leslie and June Leslie. Coach Frank Leslie and Captain Gale Leslie are presented with the Hargreaves Portage Drug Store Ltd. Shield by Orval Wagner. Mr. Wagner made the presentation to the intermediate league champion Farmerettes during the Central Manitoba Minor Softball Association’s league windup Thursday at Elks Hall. Pagettes were the Squirt Girls softball champions of Portage and district in 1969. Coaches “Moe” Cartman and Doug Blyth flank the team’s captains, Marie Pliszka and Susan Schultz, who proudly display the Hebner Hardware trophy. Laverne Hebner, centre, presented the team with the shield at the Central Manitoba Girls Softball Association windup last Thursday. Belle Durand, team captain, and Elaine Durand are presented with the Portage Garage trophy by Mrs. Phil Nicholson. They accepted the trophy for their team, St. Claude, winners of the Midget girls softball league. The presentation was made during the windup of the Central Manitoba Softball Association held last week at the Elks Hall in Portage la Prairie. The Bantam Girls Central Manitoba Minor Softball Association Championship. Their coach, Phillip Jackson and team captain Marilyne Durand, were presented Hill’s West Drug Store ltd. Trophy by Cliff Bagrie. The presentation was made last week at the league’s windup in Portage.
