Centennial "Old Home Week" Parade

That's Mr. Canada, John Fisher, in an ipen landau driven by Mr. and Mrs. Doug Lyttle during Saturday's opening of Old Home Week. With Mr. Fisher were Mac Brownridge and Dick Sanderson, seen here, and Jack McArthur, hidden in this photo.

Officials at the welcoming home ceremonies for the Red River cart Saturday included Mayor W. A. Linden, John Fisher and Ald. Cliff Bagrie on his right, and Maitland Steinkopf, at right, chairman of the Manitoba Centennial Corporation.

Just restin' were these two youngsters who took part in Saturday's big parade in Portage la Prairie. This was but one of many floats entered in the parade to welcome home the Red River cart and kick off Old Home Week.

'Hello Dolly' - Famous in her own right is Dolly, the mare that did such a yeoman job in bringing Portage's Red River cart 'home'. Here she gets a garland of flowers from Joan Patton as Sid Schofield and Ron Strand look on during welcoming ceremonies Saturday afternoon.
