Pioneer Residents Honoured By Province and Civic Governments

Mr. and Mrs. John Nichol (left), and Mrs. Eliza Balmer were among 43 persons at the Holiday Retreat who received senior citizen certificates and special Centennial pins Wednesday. The certificates, signed by Premier Duff Roblin, Hon. Stewart McLean, Centennial Commissioner Maitland Steinkopf, and Mayor H. L. Henderson, were presented on behalf of the Centennial Commission by Mr. Henderson. All Portage citizens 75 years of age and over will be similarly honored at a Pioneer Awards Dinner being planned for a later date. Standing at back is Mrs. Dora Bryson, matron of Holiday Retreat.
