Vopni June 24/74 Curling BILL KITSON, DON CLARK HONORED WITH LIFE MEMBERSHIPS
Dona Clark, left, and Bill Kitson congratulate each other on being presented with life memberships in the Portage Curling Club. Other life members still alive are Earl Bowes, George Hill, Harvey Sparling, Rod McLeod, Don Elgert, Gordon Irwin, Jim Wishart, Ted Beese, Wm. Judd and Ben Samoleski.
Bill McCowan, on the left, presented skip Tony Chiponski with the McCovan Shield, emblematic of senior curling supremacy at the Portage Curling Club for the 1973-74 season. Bill made the presentation at the recent Portage Curling Club annual meeting. Other members of the rink on Tony’s left include third Hector Lamont, lead Mike Chiponski and second George Thompson.
Ted Moon, on the right, skipped his rink of third Allan McCartney in the centre, lead Clayton Edmondson, on the left and second Bill Throne, missing from the picture, to the Monday 9 p.m. curling league championship. Trophies were presented at the annual meeting Monday night at BPO Elks Hall.
Winner of the Stewart-Greenslade two-night per week league curling championship of Portage this season was the Wayne Troop rink. Barry Greenslade on the left, the donor of the trophy, presented the trophy to skip Troop, third Burke Wilson and second Vaughn Greenslade. Missing is lead Hub Maxwell. The trophies were presented at the Portage Curling Club’s annual meeting at the banquet Monday night at the B.P.O. Elks Hall.
Harold Mayor skipped his rink this season to the league championship in the Wednesday 7 p.m. curlinf league of the Portage Curling Club. From the left are lead Ed Carson, second Craig McKinstry and skip Harold Mayor. Missing from the picture is third Bill Milburn.
