Canadian Cancer Society “Anti-Smoke” lecture in city school

“Smoking Sam” joined forces with the principal Morris Boychuk, left and teacher M. J. Peppner Thursday at North Memorial school to demonstrate the effects of smoking on the lungs. Sam, who hails from Victoria, B.C., came to Portage with the blessings of the Canadian Cancer Society. He actually smokes a cigarette and the results show up on an early discernable filter tape. Here he’s in a grade five class.
