Momento [memento] for retiring Principal W. C. Taylor

W. C. Taylor, retiring after 42 years of service as an educator in the Portage school division has been the honored guest at several functions lately but one gift he will probably cherish more than any other is one that he's trying out here.

At the final student assembly of PCI for the present school term the students presented their principal with a replica of the school bell.

Funds for the purchase came from donations by the students. The bell was restored in Hamilton, Ont., and was suitably inscribed in Portage.

Wayne McWhirter, president of the Portage Collegiate Literary Society, made the presentation on behalf of the students, who gathered in assembly with the teachers for their final official session with Mr. Taylor.

Tuesday evening Mr. Taylor was honored along with Mrs. Ruth Holliday, principal of Oakville school, and Fred McDougall, custodian at Portage schools for many years.

Mr. Taylor was presented with a silver tray by the Portage division school board.
