Activities at special crops station

Seeding by hand- one of the tedious but important jobs at the special Crops substation in portage is the hand-seeding operation on some of the test plots, Here George Bull and Cece Green sow some of the 12 trials in sunflowers that will be conducted here this summer. It's so meticulous, even the seeds are counted.

Careful seeding- When it comes to seeding barley test plots the work becomes a "careful, very careful" job, George Thompson, Art Larkin and Harold Simpson of the special Crops substation here spent Wednesday sowing 24 varieties during the upcoming crop year.
