(Tashiro) March 11 - 1960 Fire

Produce Truck Catches On Fire.

Smoke and steam pour from huge box of a produce truck which caught fire late Friday at the junction of Nos. 1 and 4 highways west of Portage. The fire is believed to have developed from a heater inside the van to prevent the boxes of apples, tomatoes, celery, etc., from freezing. The truck, from Poplar Break Farms at Middlechurch, Man., was backed into the ditch to clear the highway. Firemen from the Portage department answered the fire call. Damage was confined to the van proper.
