Local Militia Unit Mess Honors Retiring Co. Lt. Col. Burton and Mrs. Burton
Newest life member of the 38th Battery Sergeants' Mess in Portage was created Saturday when Lt. Col. W. Burton, second from left, was honored by mess members. Left to right here are president of the mess committee Sgt. J. Benzie, Lt. Col. Burton, Mrs. Burton, and WO1 T. R. Dyer.
Together for the first time are the five life members of the 38th Battery Sergeants' Mess in Portage as they welcomed Lt. Col. W. Burton Saturday as newest member. Left to right are Arthur Kitson, Jack McGill, Lt. Col. Burton, Don Dyer and Wilfred Donaldson. All have had long service with the militia in Portage la Prairie dating as far back as the 20s.
