Men's Curling Wind-Up

Jim Stewart's rink won the top honors in club curling at the Portage Curling Club this year and were presented with the Shell Cup by Jim Collett and Large Shell Dealers. The presentation was made Thursday night at the Portage Curling Club's annual banquet. From the left are Stewart, third Bill Heal, second Ed Thurston and lead Ken Baccus.

Wayne Troop's rink won the Two-Night league curling championship this year and were presented with the Stewart-Greenslade trophies at the banquet Thursday night. From the left are Barry Greenslade, who made the presentations, Troop, third Burke Wilson, second Vaughn Greenslade and lead Gary Maxwell.

Alf Graham's rink won the Senior curling championship this season. Alf, second from the left, was presented with the Acadian Shield by Senior Curling president Ben Samoleski, on the left, at the annual meeting recently. Other members of the winning rink are second Jim Shaw and on the right, lead Andy Stone. Third Barney Johnson is absent from the picture.

Ted Moon skipped his rink to victory in the Wednesday 9 p.m. league and also won the One Night league playoff. His rink was honored at the Portage Curling Club's annual banquet and meeting Thursday night at the ANAF hall. From the left are Moon, third Allan McCartney, second Bill Thorn and lead Clayton Edmondson.

Chester Cairns' rink entered two one night leagues this season and won both. The Cairns rink curled Monday at 9 p.m. and Wednesday at 7 p.m. and posted the best season record in each one. From the left are Chester, third Ed Caister and second Louie Tremorin. Missing from the photo is lead Emil Rochalski. Trophies were presented Thursday night.

Ben Samoleski, on the right, was presented with a life membership in the Portage Curling Club during the annual meeting of the club Thursday night at the ANAF Vimy hall. Making the presentation is Jim Wishart, president-elect of the Manitoba Curling Association. Mr. Samoleski served as president of the senior curlers this past year.
