Abundance of Moisture Helps City Back Yard Gardeners

The abundance of moisture this year has been a boon to backyard gardeners and Portage la Prairie gardeners and flower beds are lush in growth. The rows of bushy growth in the top photo is an indication of what most gardens look like in the city. The second photo is of a Holland lily grown by a west-ender from seed that was to have been thrown away. This lily carries 11 blooms on a single stem. The extra-ordinary growth this season bids well for the annual Horticultural Society show scheduled for next month. Both vegetable and flower classes will have top quality exhibits.
