SCHOOL OPENING
Schools isn’t going to be that bad, decides little five-year-old Cheryl Dawn McKinnnion, as she answers the questions being asked her by the pretty, smiling lady. The lady is Mrs. Art Ried. Grade One teacher at the Prince Charles School, who with Miss Anne Wilman, also a Grade One teacher, greeted the youngsters and their mothers, and registered them for classes. Shown with Cheryl is her mother who smiles on, as little Cheryl speaks up for herself, when questioned by Mrs. Reid.
READY FOR ANOTHERS YEARS WORK at learning, these children at the Victoria School are shown smiling broadly, shortly after they arrived for their first school day. In the top photograph is the grade two’s who had gathered into one room, to find out where they would be placed. The bottom photographs shows the grade five class all nicely settled and ready for what’s ahead. The photo shows the large enrolment in this grade. Many other grades also had an overcrowded last night the school principals and school board met to settle this problem and distribute the children throughout the schools in the City so they will be satisfactorily accommodated.
