ANNUAL LADIES’ BONSPIEL GETS UNDERWAY
JIMMY WISHART, drawmaster of the Portage ladies bonspiel, reported for work early this morning and is seen here, discussing matters with a couple of clients – Helen Dahl and Muriel Hempstock. Jim, by the way, likes to keep discussions on an informal basis and finds it helps to keep only one chair in his office.
OTTAWA AND WASHINGTON may have the odd spat, but none of it carries over into relations between the Portage and Langdon, North Dakota curling clubs. Here Lenora Bergman, left, and Ruby Gellner, right, both of Langdon, listen sympathetically as Effie Dennis of Portage demonstrates the margin by which she lost a close game Monday. Effie defending champion of the Portage ladies bonspiel, lost her opening-round battle to the Mclntyre rink of Winnipeg.
GRACE McDONALD isn’t having the same difficulty that bothers most women – always changing her mind. She’s having trouble making it up in the first place. The members of her rink aren’t much help either as they forward their suggestions. All different, of course. From the left are Helen Boak, skip McDonald, Evelyn Cooper, and Roberta Chepil.
