Portage Plains United Way thermometer - First recording $11,620
Up she goes - The mercury, that is, on the United Way thermometer at city hall. Fireman Ab McDonald has done the necessary ladder work as United Way president Bruce Miller and campaign chairman Elly Brooker look on. Officially, it's just under the $12,000 mark.
