Fun Festival

Two Southport Pipers named to lead festival parades, etc. - Sgt. Scotty Marshall and Cpl. Todd Shannon

Sixth annual Winter Festival is going to have something new. The skirl of bagpipes will fill the air at the opening ceremonies Friday night in the Centennial Arena rink. And the two who are going to do this are pipers Sgt. Scotty Marshall and Cpl. Todd Shannon of CFB Southport. Both arrived on the Portage scene in October 1968. Sgt. Marshall is originally from Brockville, Ont., while Cpl. Shannon is from Hamilton, Ont. They are not strangers to one another, having piped in the Lahr Pipe Band in Germany. Both are family men and are looking forward to leading the children's parade Saturday morning, another first in this year's festival.
