Graduation at Southport
Graduation at Southport — The graduation of a Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP) course from RCAF Station Portage la Prairie, took place last Friday. Nine graduates who had been undergoing flying training with Flying Instructor School (FIS) during the summer months, paraded to receive their wings. Prior to arriving at Southport in late spring, they had all completed degree courses at universities across Canada: For the reviewing officer, Group Captain D. E. Galloway of Winnipeg, the occasion held particular significance because includ- ed in the graduates was his son, Flying Officer D. E. Galloway, who commanded the graduates party and in addition to his wings received the Scroll of Honor as the best all-round graduate. The picture shows Group Captain Galloway accompanied by the Parade Commander, Squadron Leader G. C. McDonald, inspecting the graduating class. Directly behind Group Captain Gallo- way may be seen his son, Flying Officer D. E. Galloway.
