March of Dimes
West End Citizens Co-Operative Association gives $100 to March of Dimes
The March of Dimes campaign in Portage was the ultimate winner of an amateur contest held by West End Citizens Co-op. Here Dimes campaign chairman Doug Muirhead, at left, accepts a cheque for $100 from Albert Kelly, president of the Co-operative Association as Hal Trimble and Alvin Hewitt look on. There were two classes for young contestants and one for the adults during the contest judged by Sally Hicks, Mrs. Harold Simpson and E. L. Kitchen. Ten-year and under winners were Shelly Morriseau, Sally Solomon and Shelly Allanson, Heather Davies; 11 to 15 years, Rossendale choir, Bev Hewitt, Pat Davies; adult, Ivan Addison and Dave Wood, Clarence Asham and Z. Brazauskas, and Merv Morgan, Verne Ferris and Bill Carson. The program varied from vocal selections to instrumental numbers in the various age groups.
