Manitoba School For Mentally Defectives Special Feature
RESTRICTED IN THEIR ABILITY are given work they abilities constructively, that they might become integrant in the part of the laundry of the school with three pupils and the assistant Florence Lewis, in the foreground from left to right are Helen. THE NURSES RESIDENCE is comfortable and modern and is in keeping with the desire to make the off-duty life of the nurses as pleasing as possible. Here are two of the young nurses in one of the rooms in the residence. Miss L. Roenspies is just prepared to go on duty and Miss V. Chysyk is off duty.

MANY CHANGES have taken place in the physical plant of the Manitoba School for Mental Defectives over the years. On the left is the building as it was when erected as a Home for Incurables in 1890 and contained in this building were aged and infirm. Twenty-five years ago and the institution was changed and it became, not s home for these unfortunates to languish in but a school for the mentally defective, where they might be helped as far as is possible to fit in with a society in which they play a definite part. Above is the old building with addictions which is only one of the buildings being used.
