Over 500 Horse To Be Auctioned In Two-Day Price As High As $1,250
IT WAS LIKE THE OLD WEST today at the Exhibition Grounds on Portage's Island Park/ Above, auctioneer Buck Rogers calls for bids as a blanket is auctioned off at the start of the horse sale. About 500 animals are being offered for sale during the two-day sale and buyers were expected from all over western Canada, the United States and Ontario. About 100 turned out for the start this morning

MORE THAN 300 PEOPLE turned out Friday for the first day's huge auction at the Island fair grounds when better than 130 head of horses went into the ring. Close to 500 will have gone under the hammer by nightfall today when the biggest horse auction ever held in the Portage area.
