Large potatoes grown around the city

Large economy size, that's the policy of local and district potato growers. These three potatoes weigh almost 12 pounds, and would make a good meal for a family of 12 heavy eaters. The centre potato weighing four pounds, three ounces was grown at the Manitoba School. The other two potatoes weighing three and three quarter pounds and three pounds 10 ounces are Pontiac potatoes grown at the Elm River Hutterite Colony, Newton Siding. These potatoes were grown in the garden of Mike Mendael, and brought into the Graphic by George Williams, teacher at the Colony. The largest potato was brought to the Graphic by John Inglis, farm superintendent at the Manitoba School.
